Grid Art

Step 1: Watch through this presentation:

For this project, you will be looking at getting better at shading and using the tools given to you to blend and smoothly move the graphite on your paper.

Your work will be looked at favorably if you include the following steps:

  • Brainstorm and pick an image you would be excited to have on your wall after it is drawn out! Send Ms. L the photo on a google doc.

  • Step 1: Complete the practice grid drawing demonstrating that you fully understand the process and how that goes. Download one of the four practice grid art sheets and print them out: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HGDm597q3E3dKfu3eIQk8ng39oYbV4rt?usp=sharing
Complete this worksheet and turn it in for the first step of this project.

  • Step 2: Draw out the grid over the photograph as well as create a grid on your final work of art. These grids can differ in size as long as they are proportional and the same amount of boxes. You can choose the label the grid on both if you choose. It is also suggested that you mark off the boxes on your photo as you complete them.

  • Draw out your image using the grid method transferring one box at a time.

  • Document the creation with an image

  • Submit the image of your final creation to your teacher

Before you submit this creative work ask yourself a few questions. Ask yourself if you spent enough time to make this work the best that it can be, or did you just rush at the end to get it done? If you just rushed at the end, what are you going to do differently next week? Really self-evaluate your work and your process of working. What can you do to improve? What does improvement look like? Did you take into account the different resources we have learned about in this class? These are all questions to consider before you turn work in to be graded. Don't Forget To Be Awesome!
